Having Trouble Hanging Christmas Lights with Guards?

As the holidays are quickly approaching, we have had a number of clients that have had gutter guards installed reach out to us expressing concern having trouble hanging Christmas lights from their gutters. While they are extremely satisfied with their guards and their functionality, they still want to know how to hang lights outdoors.

Every year around this time we get a bunch of clients calling in to ask. Because of this, we decided to do some research and find some easy products you can use to hang your lights in a similar manner with a guard.

There are a number of different hooks, and clips with fairly easy installation processes that homeowners can use with guards.

Hanging Christmas Lights With Guards

  1. The ChristmasHook specifically fits gutters with a mesh gutter guard. The hangers are made out of metal. You can crimp and un-crimp by hand to meet your lighting needs. The item can be purchased HERE.
  2. Leaf Screen/Gutter Clips clip onto your gutter guard for another easy means of installing your holiday lights. They can hold an assortment of different types of lights and can be found HERE.
  3. Installing lights on your roof shingles instead of your gutters, or under your gutter system can also be good solutions. There are “all-in-one” type clips that allow for you to do this providing a number of different hanging options with just one clip. You can find an example of an “all-in-one” HERE. There are also shingle tab products that function similarly.
  4. Adhesive clips are another possible option. Adhesives should be applied to clean surfaces – possibly shingles, onto the gutter, or other viable surfaces. HERE is an example.

Reminder From The Pros

These are just a few of the products we have found that could work with our guards. Of course there are other solutions, and DIY ways to solve hanging Christmas lights dilemma. We would like to remind you to be careful if you decide to install these on your own. Climbing a ladder always causes potential risks, so make sure to be safe.
