Ryan has spent the last fifteen years in corporate sales positions for software and technology companies. For the last six years, he was living and working in the United Kingdom.
He recently exited from the position and returned home to The United States and is living in Connecticut, close to family. Ryan is married with two kids and he enjoys writing, reading, keeping physically active, and traveling whenever possible.
Always an entrepreneur at heart, Ryan has started two companies while living in London. Including a company that brought hard-to-find vehicles to underserved populations, as well as an online marketplace, focused on a niche consumer base. He has a B.A. in Marketing/Business Administration from Miami University.
When he began exploring new business opportunities in Connecticut, he came across The Brothers that just do Gutters. He loved the idea of Reinventing Contractor Service. As a new homeowner, he understood the pain of dealing with contractors. Honesty and communication are very sorely lacking in this industry. One of the biggest headaches a homeowner can face is dealing with a flaky contractor who doesn’t show up on time, cancels appointments, and doesn’t respond. After doing his research on The Brothers that just do Gutters, he believes that they have found the solution!
Culture is a word thrown around by lots of businesses, and I’ve seen that “culture” unravel when I’ve pulled the string on other opportunities I had been exploring. Meeting Ken & Ryan, and seeing the way the team talked about them, as well as watching the ‘morning huddle’, convinced me that this was a company that actually gets it, and puts their money where their mouth is.
I’m thrilled to be starting this next chapter. Going into business for myself has been a long-term goal of mine. My sales and business background prepared me well to make the leap. I’m most looking forward to creating and leading a team. I can remember the summer jobs I had as a young adult, and I know what it is like to work with someone who is just a boss. I want to be able to give them the work experience I was never lucky enough to have and to make a positive impact.
During the franchise confirmation day, I was able to spend time with each department, and go over in detail what each does, and how they help the Franchisee. The dedication and attention to detail were noticeable in each area, and that gave me the confidence that this business is about to take off!
In my franchise area of Hartford, CT Gutter guards will be a big focus due to all the tall trees. There are also a lot of beautiful older homes in the region that would look great with an aesthetic upgrade to copper gutters!
Success to me would be a solid and growing pipeline of business, happy customers, and high employee morale. If I focus on those, profitability will come. The process is repeatable and the operation is scalable. With all the systems in place, it should be easy to scale up! Within a year, I intend to have at least 3 crews in operation.
Our promise to communicate with our clients, and give them an honest assessment of the situation, as well as all of their options, will be key in giving them the best possible customer experience.
In 1999 Ken Parsons had just left the teaching industry and started his own gutter contractor company under the name Waterfall Seamless Gutters. In 2002 Ken’s younger brother, Ryan Parsons, accepted a job on the truck with Ken after the Graphic Design company he was working for crashed. In 2006 the Brothers briefly changed their name to Water-flow Gutter Solutions before finally becoming “The Brothers that just do Gutters” in 2009. The name we all know and love came from a radio ad the Brothers ran just a couple years prior to the change. Everyone who heard it liked it so much they thought it was the company name so Ken and Ryan stopped fighting it and adopted the name. With the name change came a few title changes as well. We decided we no longer wanted to be salesman, presidents or owners but rather Solutionists©, which embodied what we represent to our clients. Ken Parsons was re-entitled Senior Solutionist©, and Ryan Parsons became Chief Solutionist©.
Being in the gutter contractor business for over 15 years was an effort of adaptation and determination. We have been able to be successful for so long because we made our main focus the customer. The Brothers that just do Gutters offer a wide variety of installations, cleaning and repairs in a small niche industry of seamless rain gutters and leaf guards. We have been able to grow the reliability of our services and offer only the best products by focusing all our effort on gutter systems and guards.
Our mantra, “Reinventing Contractor Service™” is the phrase we live by in all areas of our business, every day. The story of The Brothers that just do Gutters began with hard work and a dream to be a community-loved contractor. We wanted to reinvent how clients experience contractor services and provide a level of customer service and reliability that was lacking in our industry.
Along the way, we had to learn to move at the speed of business and invent many new methods never before implemented in the contractor field. Meeting our goal of being a five-star contractor and reinventing contractor service meant focusing on every detail of the job. By creating a unique experience with the homeowner, investing in our employees, sourcing the best products, and creating training methods for publishing every review a homeowner made on our independent review services, we started to rise above the rest.
